Padel frequently asked questions
New to padel? What to expect
Padel is an incredibly social racquet sport that’s best described as a hybrid of tennis and squash. It’s played in doubles on an enclosed court where you can play the ball off the walls to keep the rally going.
Because the solid racquets are easy to handle and the rules are simple, you don’t need to be a pro to have a great rally on your first try. It’s designed for continuous play and lots of fun.
Padel is played in doubles on an enclosed court where the walls are part of the game, allowing the ball to bounce off them after hitting the ground. The game starts with an underarm serve, and the goal is to keep the rally moving.
The basics are easy to pick up within minutes. Since the court’s smaller than a tennis court and the racquets are easy to handle, you’ll spend less time stopping and more time enjoying long rallies with your friends. Playtomic has a great guide to the basic rules of padel.

How to find people to play padel with
You can use the Open Matches feature on the Playtomic app to join games with other players at a similar skill level. We’ve also got a community WhatsApp group for finding last-minute players and arranging friendly games.
Open Matches are public games hosted on the Playtomic app that anyone can join, regardless of whether they have a partner or a full group of four. When you join an Open Match, you’re simply booking one of the four spots on a court and playing alongside other people at your skill level. If a match doesn’t fill with the required four players by the start time, the system automatically cancels the game and issues a full refund to your original payment method.

Padel for families and groups
Yes, padel is an excellent family sport because the equipment is light and the game is easy to learn regardless of age. We’ve got many families who enjoy playing together, and children are always welcome on our courts.
Because the court’s smaller and the ball stays in play longer, it’s much less frustrating for kids than tennis. It’s a fantastic way for the whole family to stay active together.
