Brrr! Fight the freeze at Wressle Grange

Farmhouse drawing room

If you’re planning on visiting us in colder weather, you might be wondering what there is to do. Worry not – you won’t be bored with lots of freeze-fighting winter activities that will keep you toasty.

Eat something warm

First on our list – you’ve got to eat! Our nearest eatery is Loftsome Bridge, only a mile away from our accommodation. Lovely for an afternoon tea, or call in for dinner or just a drink.

You could visit the many options in York or Hull, but nearby Howden is packed full of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants that will warm your cockles. Have a bite at Kitchen or Bishops Bar, pizza at Luna or Florena’s – or even bring back a takeaway from Minster Fish Bar or Food Express – Howden is heaving with options.

See something new

Lucky you! We’re situated between bustling cities, providing you with lots of options for museums and attractions within half an hour’s drive. Hull even has a museum quarter with many free entry museums. Here are just some of the top places on our list.

Create something special

If you’re feeling creative, we’ve got you covered – and you don’t even have to leave your accommodation for these!

Chocolate workshop

Based out of nearby Pocklington, Butterflies Chocolate can arrange a workshop for 4-8 in the house to create your own tasty treats.

Doodle party

Our lovely friend Charlotte will come to the house and host your own doodle party!

Jewellery workshop

High Maintenance Jewellery will come to the house and provide everything you need to make your own jewellery.

Painting lesson

Have a painting lesson with local artist Emma Bateman. Our daughter Annabel has an amazing picture that she painted with Emma!

And… Relax

Well, seeing as you’ve been so busy with all of that, you deserve a break. Relax at The Oaks Golf Club and Spa only ten minutes away, or you could even invite visiting spa Love Pamper Company for a spa experience at the house.

Not bothered by the cold? How about exciting winter sports at Snozone at Xscape in Castleford, or wild swimming at Pool Bridge Farm York?

You do, of course, always have the option of staying by the fire and keeping cosy in the house!
